Anne Boyle
ANNE BOYLE started painting at age 10. Her pursuit of art took her to study at Queens University including classes with Andre Bieler (1896-19890) and George Swinton (1906-2002). Broadening her art, Anne attended workshops in Machine Embroidery, Fabric Maché, Appliqué, Paper-making. Watercolour, Crayon art, drawing, Print-making, encaustic, and Doll-making as well as studying liturgical art, biblical exegesis, liturgy symbolism, and art therapy. She also studied oil painting with Allen Cameron.
Currently, her art is expressed in multi-media: fabric, jewellery, acrylic, oil, inks, plastics, wool and more. She has painted theatre sets, and designed and made costumes in association with Quinte Dance Centre, the Reagent Theatre and the Belleville Theatre Guild.
Anne has exhibited her art in many churches including St. Clements, St. James Cathedral, and Trinity College of Toronto; Christ Church, Guelph; St. Peters, Ottawa; St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kingston; and St. Thomas, Bridge Street United, St. Andrews and St. Michaels of Belleville. Also, her work has been show at Shaw Rimington Gallery, Prime Gallery, Patmos Gallery of Toronto; Gallery House Sol, Georgetown; Agnes Etherington Gallery, Kingston; and Canadian Gallery of Crafts, Montreal. In addition to exhibitions, her work has been published in many church journals, in Hands Magazine, and in the Canadian fabric art book Art of the Spirit. Her work is in collections in Canada, the USA, England, and Australia.
She has passed on her artistic skills by teaching workshops in banner-making, machine embroidery at Fireworks, Kingston. She taught Art from Junk in Belleville area school programs, and gave classes in doll-making.
