Artist Statement My paintings are chiefly landscapes and skyscapes of Eastern Ontario, with an occasional cityscape when inspired by our Victorian streets. They involve an infusion of line, colour, and light. I admit readily to having always been inspired by Impressionists from 19th century Europe and their later post impressionist work. Even stronger has been the influence of Canadian impressionists including the members of the Group of 7 and Tom Thomson. I paint both at my cottage overlooking a lake near Westport and in my studio at home in Belleville. Mediums Oil and occasionally watercolor Artist Training I worked originally in pencil or pen and ink as a teenager and then in watercolors until I tried and fell for oil paints. I love the strength, depth and richness that oils can produce.
