Larraine Milligan’s paintings can be defined by three words: female figure; narrative; and line. The basis of all her original paintings are sketches of the female figure and from these sketches paintings contain her story but the viewer is challenged to explore their own interpretation. Often times the pose is key to developing the setting.
Currently, she is using gesture drawings as the spark to more abstract paintings. Many of her paintings are done with cold wax and oil and in some you will see original charcoal lines.
