Bunny Bates knew when she headed to the art classes and avoided the math classes that she was destined to become an artist
Born in London England, she studied at the Slade School of Fine Arts.
In 1974, she moved to Belleville, ON, and taught drawing design and art history at the Ontario Business College.
Also in 1974, she was awarded the Canada Council Exploration Grant for sculpture. She works in clay, plaster, a stone-metal material for the type of drawing she does. She has displayed her work in many juried exhibitions and public galleries in the Maritimes and Ontario. One of her most important works “Horse Head’, in bronze, disappeared in Toronto.
Bunny sadly passed away February 8th, 2025, at Hastings Manor surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by all.
