Don Pinder
Don Pinder arrived in Prince Edward County in 1996 to become well known for his innovative multi-level images of architectural details, as well as his distinctive pottery and photographs.
A native of Newmarket, Ontario, Don now lives in Wellington and has become a very active member of the County’s growing artistic community. He has chaired the organizing committee for Art in the County from 2000 to 2005 and has designed the show from 2000 to the present.
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, Don has worked as an art director, at sales promotion, at magazines, and at interior and furniture design. He has exhibited his work, solo, at the Belleville Public Library Gallery and in group shows in many local galleries including the Ottawa Art Gallery, the O’Connor Gallery in Toronto, Picturesque Gallery in Napanee, and Gallery One-Twenty-One, Belleville. His work is included in private collections in Toronto and across North America. He has been the recipient of a number of awards in juried shows and, in 2009, received the Quinte Arts Council's Art Recognition Award.
Don is currently involved in graphic and logo design, painting in mixed media, pottery, and photography. Some of his photographs were included in the Taste the County tourist brochures for 2001 and 2002. He created the logos for Art in the County, the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival, the Command Performance Choir, and did the design work for the Regent Theatre logo. In the summer of 2002, Don organised and opened a co-operative gallery, This Ain’t The National Gallery in Picton. He is a member of Gallery One-Twenty-Onewhere he is the head of the design committee.
