Artist Statement - I am fascinated by the creative process both in and outside of art. As Deepak Chopra so beautifully stated: “The most creative act you will ever undertake is the act of creating yourself”.
My life has been immersed in the creative process from the time I could hold a crayon in my hand, through my years studying Visual Art at York University, a 25 year career in advertising, graphic design and illustration and then 13 years as a professor of Advertising and Creative Thinking at Sheridan College. Curious about what it means to be a highly creative person, I attended the International Center for Studies in Creativity at Buffalo State University and completed a Master’s Degree in Creative Studies, a Graduate Certificate in Creativity and Change Leadership, and a Certificate in Visual Facilitation.
Recently retired from teaching, I am returning to my first passion – drawing and painting. The creative process continues to intrigue me and I enjoy capturing someone’s essence in a portrait, or spontaneously guided intuitive abstract expressions of my own inner landscape. My love for vivid colour, symbolism, line and shape is evident in my work. Being of Ukrainian decent, I’ve been called to depict the beauty and courage of Ukraine as a way to honour my beloved country. The proceeds of the cards and prints are being donated to the Ukrainian Humanitarian Foundation.
